Abstract :
Foreign object debris (FOD) surveillance radar is used to detect all kinds of static foreign objects on runways. Echoes of the low RCS targets are shielded by clutter reflected from background and FOD are generally static targets, which make it difficult to detect. So the reasonable clutter model is very important to detect FOD. This paper presents non-Rayleigh distribution clutter model of runways scenario based on video signal simulation, analyzes time statistic characterization of clutter in a single resolution cell and generates clutter patterns with assigned envelope probability distribution function (PDF) and correlation properties. Simulation shows that the clutter model is practical.
