Abstract :
This paper presents a Marx-dc-dc converter to integrate offshore wind farms into multiterminal HVDC. The proposal eliminates heavy ac offshore transformer and expensive civil engineering work to support it. The paper describes the Marx-dc-dc converter topology, optimal acquisition of wind and their integration to multiterminal VSC-HVDC. As example, a multiterminal HVDC system composed of two onshore terminals and an offshore wind farm is simulated in PSCAD/EMTDC. Besides transmitting wind energy to shore, multiterminal VSC-HVDC enables power exchanges between VSC stations.
