Abstract
This paper presents smart grid operation strategies based on the Northeast Asia power system interconnection (smart power grid, smart place, smart transport, smart renewable, and smart electric service) in the South Korean power system. Future smart control centers should be flexible to include energy resources into the unit dispatch to increase efficiency in utilizing renewable energy, and controllable load to meet future demand. Future market operation should also have interaction with the electricity market, which is not currently possible in the present market operation functions in the South Korean power system. In this paper, we suggest how to design smart grid operation strategies for the Northeast Asia power system interconnection, smart power grids, smart places, smart transport, smart renewables, and smart electric services in the South Korean power system.
