Abstract :
Phasor measurement measures the amplitude and phase angle of the signal to determine the health of the power system. If a fault occurs on a transmission line, the input current of a relay may contain harmonics and exponentially decaying DC offset. This paper proposes an embedding-based scheme, which transfers a power system signal to the phase space according to its mathematical properties, to first remove the DC offset then measure the amplitude and phase angle of the fundamental component of the fault signal. The idea of embedding is also engaged to compensate the saturations of a secondary current, using the information provided by the unsaturated portion.
