Abstract :
This paper describes the impact of Distributed Generation (DG) technologies on generation curtailment. A reference network, which consists of generation dominated areas, is used to examine the effect of a new DG connection to an existing bus bar. Three parameters associated with the DG technologies, i.e. the type of DG contracts, the capacity factor of the DG and the levelised cost of electricity generation are taken into account. The analysis shows that the mixes of DG technologies have a significant impact on the quantity and the cost of generation curtailment.
