Abstract
This paper describes the impact of limiters of generator excitation systems during a grid voltage decrease. It explains an example showing that a voltage decrease is getting more likely in particular in power systems with increased load flow. The over excitation limiter may not be sufficient to keep the generator operated inside the reactive capability diagram. A model of a stator current limiter is explained and the additional effect of this limiter is simulated. In addition, restrictions of this limiter and of terminal voltage are discussed.
