Abstract :
This paper presents independent and integrated view of ongoing North American bulk power system reliability trends. The North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) objectively analyzed the state of reliability based on information derived from metric performances and equipment availability data systems. This analysis not only provided an industry reference for historical bulk power system reliability, it also offered analytical insights towards industry action, and enabled the discovery and prioritization of specific actionable risk control steps. Some datasets and results summarized in this paper are still in an early stage. With a more thorough data matrix in the future, more conclusions about reliability will be ascertained.
