Abstract :
Islanding of a generator inside the micro-grid can cause problems in operation and management of the network. Proper islanding detection is crucial. This paper presents the design and simulation of a micro-grid network to observe islanding detection and behavior of the system. We used the rate of change of frequency (Rocof) method and the reactive power export error (Rpeed) method for detecting islanding. Study cases were modeled in software based system and results verified experimentally on a small scaled power system laboratory test bed.
