  • Abstract
Gain scheduling applications begin by creating a set linear parameter varying (LPV) systems for many operating points in the non-linear system. In this paper, the load and line reactance are used as parameters. The scheduling variables are power flows in tie lines because they provide useful information about the power system state and are available for measurement. The linear controllers developed for the LPV model are designed using H2/H with pole placement objectives. The linear controller is applied to the non-linear system. The proposed algorithm helps predict the response of the non-linear system to the linear controller by determining if the current system state is contained within the domain of attraction of the equilibrium. If the stability domain contains a convex combination of the two points, the control is less likely to disrupt the system as it moves towards an equilibrium.
