Abstract :
This paper discusses dynamic voltage and frequency scaling (DVFS) in H264, which has been mostly used as a video decoder. DVFS obtains energy savings by scaling the frequency and voltage rather than sacrificing operation time. The proposed DVFS method was applied to mobile video services, which are sensitive to energy consumption. In contrast to existing methods, the proposed relative complexity estimation method does not require additional apparatus or a complicated calculation process because it uses the characteristics of video.
