Abstract :
The Study aims mainly at inspecting the quality of glass bottles through visual inspection. As the productivity of glass products are increasing day by day, it is very difficult to manage the products quality by means of Human Inspection. Because the identification of different defects by means of naked eye is not possible. Thereby grading of glasses via machine technology has been gaining much importance. Indulge of machine vision technology not only improves the productivity, but also saves time. Even though Images can be captured from different spectrums, Only few are used for defect detection systems. The Image processing steps used for machine vision technology are Image acquisition, Image pre-processing, Image segmentation, Image feature extraction and defect classification. External surface defects are mainly captured through colour/Monochrome cameras while the internal defects are captured through devices like Infrared cameras-ray Imaging etc. Improved results are then used for Quality Inspection applications.
