Abstract
The determination of actual fillet and contact stresses during a mesh cycle of a gear drive is very difficult since these are depends on load shared by a pair during a mesh cycle. As the mesh stiffness differs at different contact points along the path of contact, it significantly affects the load sharing ratio (LSR) between the simultaneously meshed contact pairs. The present research work concentrates on the load sharing behavior and related fillet and contact stresses of two wheeler gear drive. These are evaluated by using a finite element method. The gear drives are simulated for five different torques, and results are discussed in this work and it is found that the load on a pair, fillet and contact stresses are maximum when the single pair is in contact during a mesh cycle.
