Abstract
We propose an simple and cost-effective evolution method from a current-PON to next generation PON based on PolSK/ASK orthogonal modulation. In this scheme, no change will be required in the existing ONUs. PolSK mitigate the cross talk effect between existing signal and the upgrade one. Experiment results prove the feasibility and show good bit-error-rate performance.
