  • Abstract
The second edition of this book develops this modern quantitative theory of investments from a rigorous scientific and mathematical perspective. While there are many books that cover the topic of investments for business or finance students, this book is unique in that it contains a broad coverage of many facets of investment theory while maintaining the style of an engineering book. The result is a quantitative treatment of the major topics in investment theory that appeals to those trained in engineering or the sciences. The second edition leaves much of the material in the popular first edition untouched while also including new chapters and sections largely influenced by developments in financial markets over the last 15 years. In addition to these major new topics, smaller improvements and new sections are sprinkled throughout the text, and the topic of data and statistics has been expanded and broken out into its own chapter.
