Abstract :
This article reviews the studies on the influencing factors of the establishment mode choice in international market entry, based on 12 empirical studies published from 2000 to 2011 published in five top journals in the international business and general management & strategy fields. Following a central theme-based organizing approach, we suggest a strategic management process framework with five central theme groups (i.e., country factors, industry factors, firm factors, strategic factors, and experience factors), and summarize the influencing factors by such a categorization. Some disputes have been highlighted and discussed, while the directions for future research are suggested in the end.
