Abstract :
In recent years there has been considerable activity in the digitisation of Europe´s cultural heritage, for creation of network-accessible databases (Europeana, CARARE, 3D-ICONS), in implementing strategies for shared global standards (EPOCH, Minerva EC) and for use in Web GIS programmes (MAPPA, Mapping Gothic France). However such initiatives are insufficient when it comes to detailed knowledge and management at the local level. Our research addresses this shortcoming by proposing an innovative methodology for investigating urban heritage, capable of representing the transformations of the city over time, and experimenting new techniques in knowledge and representation.
