Abstract :
This paper describes the methodologies that various utilities use to validate the data in their Outage Management System (OMS), Geographic Information System (GIS), Customer Information System (CIS) and Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) This data is the foundation of reliable operation of OMS and Distribution Management System (DMS) as well as accurate system planning studies. Utilities have suffered significant financial and political impacts due to missing and/or inaccurate data. Included is a discussion of how utilities validate the data from their outage database in order to prioritize reliability expenditures on the electric distribution system.
