Abstract :
With the global energy crisis, nowadays, high performance is no longer our only pursuit, Green Computing becomes another tendency in data center research. In this paper, we present a Frequency-Utilization based Power-Aware (FUPA) model for single CPU, then multi-cores system. A theoretical power optimized frequency for certain workload is deduced, and the optimized cores number is found. We realize the model in the GridSim simulator which proves the good performance and the power-saving capability of this approach.
