  • Abstract
    A new step count application system, called iStep, is developing by Fu Zhou EMAX Company. iStep System needs to transmit step data between the smart phone and EMAX watch with built-in pedometer in the way of low energy and reliability. Bluetooth Low Energy 4.0 (BLE 4.0) can help satisfy these requirements. However, at present there is lack of step application BLE profile. To solve this problem, the paper proposes an application profile for step data transmission based on BLE 4.0, which named BLE-Step. Taking data transmission requirements of iStep system into account, BLE-Step defines four services of Retransmission, Device, BlockNamelist and StepDataByBlock. The syntax and semantic of transmitted data in these services are depicted and the behavior descriptions of these services are defined. BLE-Step has already applied in iStep system.
