Abstract :
This article presents an analysis of startup and shut down operation on plants of oil refining processes which generates a significant amount of alarms that need to be analyzed in order to avoid abnormal situations. The first part will analyze existing standards ANSI/ISA/EEMUA identifying the most relevant aspects and then we will do a study of the interpretation of these standards in real situations in processes of startup and shutdown procedures. Culminating with a study about the mathematical model of the algorithm, and the use of these tests for detecting possible failures early using State Machine as the model base.
