Abstract :
The lack of data of continental slope regions and the perspective to oil explorations in these areas stimulated this study. Multibeam data was collected in continental slope of the Potiguar basin with the aim of modeling the seafloor. Different submarine canyons were mapped. In this work the focus are a set of 4 canyons we believe were originated due to the influence of Apodi-Mossoró River when the sea level was lower than presently. The canyons were named a1 to a4 canyons. Landslide structures and gullies were mapped in the walls of these canyons indicating erosional deposicional style.
