Abstract :
In a typical healthcare organization, artifacts containing patient-relevant data are spread over disparate IT information systems. It is difficult for a healthcare provider to obtain a consolidated view of such data. This problem is exacerbated in the context of a developing country, such as India, where a large volume of structured and unstructured data exists, and a large number of patients need to be provided care in an efficient manner. In order to offer healthcare providers seamless and rapid access to distributed disparate patient data, we have developed a Cloud-based solution that offers a consolidated view of patient-relevant data to providers. Variants of this solution have been deployed at two separate healthcare organizations in India. This paper describes our experience with the development and deployment of the above solution and shares the architectural insights we have gained.
