John Tanaka [In memoriam]

The year 2002 was a very bad time for the High Voltage Laboratory at the University of Southampton. Our founding professor was diagnosed with an asbestosis-related condition in March, and it took his life a mere 16 weeks later. The Laboratory had only recently started to be more involved in IEEE meetings; traditionally we presented our work at IEE events, but these were becoming less frequent.
