Abstract :
Modern mobile devices are usually equipped with advanced sensor network technology that can be used to perceive our ambient environment. In this paper we propose a novel event-driven mobile system architecture that combines mobile computing, sensor data of a mobile device and complex event processing. Data of embedded sensors and personal context data of modern smartphones are processed directly on the mobile device. Mobile event processing enables advanced computing capabilities to implement new types of pervasive mobile applications and, consequently, leads to a new quality of mobile e-business. The feasibility of our approach is illustrated by an Ambient Assisted Living application that is seamlessly integrated into everybody´s daily life.
