Abstract :
This paper presents the comparative analysis of two versions of Internet Protocol viz. IPv4 and IPv6 on various Microsoft Windows (Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows XP and Windows Vista) client operating system. The experiments are performed on two machines connected via crossover cable and each of the operating system to be tested is installed one at a time. Network performance metrics like throughput, latency, jitter, and one way delay are measured with D-ITG-2.8.0-rc1 tool. The results show that performance of the IPv4/IPv6 network varies on operating system.
