Abstract :
Due to the growing demand for bandwidth the tendency to employ higher frequencies up to the THz range has increased in the last few years. Yet, for implementing future THz communication systems, adequate test and characterization measurements are essential. In this paper we present channel propagation measurements in a typical office environment covering the wide frequency range from 50 GHz up to 325 GHz. The measurements were done with a commercial vector network analyzer (VNA) and frequency converters. The measurements show that the direct line-of-sight transmission is the strongest; however, non-line-of-sight paths do also exist especially in the lower frequency bands. The influence of operating transmitter and receiver on top of a reflecting plane such as in a desktop download scenario is examined, also.
