Abstract :
This paper presents dual-channel transmission over a 120-GHz-band wireless link that employs hollow-waveguide planar slot array antennas. A hollow-waveguide slot array antenna has features of a low profile, high gain, and high antenna efficiency, and can achieve high isolation between two antennas adjoined to each other. The cross-polarization discrimination (XPD) of the planar slot array antenna is over 40 dB, and the isolation between the two antennas orthogonally arranged is over 65 dB. We have achieved 10-Gbit/s bi-directional transmission and 20-Gbit/s (10-Gbit/s × 2) uni-directional transmission over a 120-Gbit/s wireless link. We evaluated the effects of the radome for the planar slot array antennas and found that a radome made of Efrethan-coated styrene foam does not affect the BER characteristics, whereas one made of Teflon deteriorates causes the interference between dual channels.
