Abstract :
This paper presents a dual band hybrid dielectric antenna covering IEEE.11n bands. The antenna consists of a raised folded monopole which covers the lower band WLAN 2.4 GHz, while the dielectric resonator covers the WLAN 5 GHz. The cylindrical dielectric resonator was manufactured from new glass-ceramic material. This class of new material has promising features for microwave applications. The final antenna is very compact with substrate size 36 × 28 mm and low profile of 4.5 mm. For the fabricated antenna the -10 dB impedance bandwidth is 2.5% and 23% in two separate frequency bands, with center frequencies at 2.45 GHz and 5.4 GHz, respectively. The measured radiation patterns showed suitably omnidirectional characteristics.
