Abstract :
This paper proposes a dead time compensation method for a 6 Switches Two PMSMs Drive Inverter. This inverter can drive two PMSMs independently. However, output voltage of this inverter becomes distorted due to a dead time error when a PWM control scheme is applied. In this paper, the cause of the dead time error is analyzed, and the PWM pulses are compensated according to the polarity of an output current. This paper explains two compensation methods. One is a software compensation method for a DSP program. Another is a hardware compensation method for a FPGA. These proposed dead time compensation methods are confirmed by the simulation result. These results lead to conclusion that the proposed dead-time compensation methods are very effective for the proposed inverter.
