Abstract :
In this work, a simplified methodology for the design of continuous Class-F power amplifiers (PAs) is presented for the first time. The procedure described is employed to design and fabricate an amplifier with output power greater than 45W. Theoretical bandwidth limitations of the continuous Class-F mode are discussed, resulting in some interesting conclusions. Measurement results are presented, with the implemented amplifier operating at an average drain efficiency of greater than 71% across a 39% fractional bandwidth, from 1.35 GHz to 2 GHz, with a peak efficiency of 76.3 %.
