  • Abstract
    A novel gas chromatography (GC) design, called smart multi-channel multi-dimensional GC, is first introduced and then demonstrated in 2- and 3-dimensional configurations by our lab recently. In this work, its performance is analyzed in comparison with the conventional GC design, showing distinct advantages in terms of total peak capacity and peak capacity efficiency. This smart GC provides a promising technology platform for portable GC devices that are potentially capable of carrying out rapid in-situ analysis of hundreds of volatile organic compounds.
