Abstract :
The evolution of computer hardware and computer networks led to the evolution of the distributed software simulators which consist of several independent modules, with a light architecture, that communicate with each other in order to fulfill their required function. One such system, that can be used to create simulators for industrial installations, consists of several independent modules, called elementary simulators, which can be placed on different machines and can be interconnected by means of some software components called communication channels. In order to create a simulator for a navigation lock a developer has to split the installation into smaller components, like gates, vanes, lock chamber etc. and create an elementary simulator for each one. To come to his aid the system offers an abstract implementation for the elementary simulator, which handles all common functionalities, letting the developer to concentrate only on the specific implementation for each module. This paper presents the design and Java implementation of an elementary simulator for the navigation lock´s miter-type gate that is situated downstream using the system´s existing abstract implementation.
