Abstract :
In recent years, many studies of passive bistatic radar (PBR) have been done. As a radar transmitter, PBR uses existing illuminator such as TV broadcasts, radio broadcasts, etc. In case of PBR using existing pulse radar as a transmitter, there is a problem that radar transmitting signal parameters are unknown, and radar signal processing, such as pulse compression, coherent integration, cannot be conducted accurately. In this paper, we propose a signal processing method solving this problem, and show experimental results of PBR using the proposed method. The proposed method estimates radar signal parameters from directly propagated signal, and uses estimated parameter to radar signal processing. The experiment uses airport surveillance radar as a transmitter and departing aircrafts from the airport as a target.
