Abstract :
This paper comprises survey results regarding product standardization features on three different levels, namely component, product feature and engineering level. For example temperature sensor features or electric and mechanical interface properties at component level. Preferred dimensions and noise-vibration-harshnes limits are examples of the product feature level. And finally unitized definitions of parameters and technical terms are examples of the engineering level. On the production side, properties of semi-finished products, tools, process capabilities and parameters as well as manufacturing equipment properties have been examined. The developed standardization ideas are ranked by their effectiveness regarding improvement of safety aspects, cost reduction potential, implementation horizon and industrial priority. The survey methodology and a summary of the most promising approaches will be presented in this paper.
