Abstract
In this paper, an effort is made to increase the capacity and efficiency of HTML5 local storage which by default stores data only in key-value pair. We have proposed a new version of local storage and name it eXtended local Storage or xStorage. The xStorage can save data in tabular form and synchronize it with online database server through a server side scripting language. A prototype system has been implemented to demonstrate practical viability of the proposed idea. Currently, it works only with Internet Explorer and use file system to save data, but it effectively outlines the ability to save data in tabular form. It further sheds light on how a user can save bandwidth, time and server resources.
