Abstract
This paper presents an experimental study on Named Entity Recognition and Disambiguation (NERD) in social media context. Recent approaches presented for NERD in short context especially in tweets are discussed. The knowledge of named entity recognition is utilized in our underdeveloped work of multi-document summarization. We assessed that Yago knowledge-based Aida service for NERD is far better so far by considering a number of reasons. Some preliminary results of our summarizer are also presented that shows the effectiveness of using named entities in text summarization.
