Abstract
Mobile Ad hoc Network (MANET) is a decentralized, infrastructureless and temporary network of mobile nodes where every intermediate node works as a router for routing the packets. AODV is one of prominent reactive routing protocol for MANET. Black and Gray hole attacks can be launched on AODV by exploiting the minimum hop count base route selection strategy. In this paper, we present a hybrid approach for preventing black/gray hole attacks by selecting second shortest route for secure route selection and hash function and time stamp base solution for consisting data transmission.
