Abstract :
This paper presents modifications to the DVB-S2 physical layer, in order to improve the reliability of a data link, in a multipath propagation channel such as experienced in an urban area. At first, some military and civilian applications that can take advantage of an improved data link, in a multipath environment, are listed. Then, the modifications to the DVB-S2 physical layer are described. Next, three propagation channel models used to test the modified DVB-S2 physical layer are described. Finally, the implementation and the validation of the modified DVB-S2 physical layer on a laboratory test bed are described.
