Abstract :
This paper presents an energy scavenger aimed at capturing EM radiation from AM broadcasting stations. Theoretical analysis and experimental results of a small size scavenging circuit are provided. The design of the power processing circuit including boost converter and self-sensing control unit are shown. Test results show that the scavenger can operate within 6 miles from a 50 kW AM broadcasting station where ambient power density is 0.13 μW/cm2, while generating a dc output of about 2.5 V.
