  • Abstract
This paper explores the segmentation of monitoring space that is generated by binary pyroelectric sensors and reference structure. Each segment in the monitoring space is identified by a state of a family of binary sensors, known as signature. The number and size of the segments are critical to the design and data analysis of a sensor system. Throughout this paper, we convey that the maximum number of signatures may be achieved. Then, we explore a series of bad sensor system deployments where the number of signatures are relatively small or the minimum. The significance of this paper is to provide a guidance to avoid such bad deployment. Finally, we will study the size of segments and present a sensor system deployment where we can control the size of segment, no matter how small it is.
