Abstract
Major faults and outages on power distribution system have a significant economic and social impact and the availability & reliability of supply becomes a more and more important issue. Hence outage times should be as short as possible. Smart grid technologies such as self-healing networks can help in reducing the outage times after a disturbance. This paper describes the self healing solution developed for Distribution Utilities to Automate the Feeders and thereby addressing both technical and organizational issues faced by utility in the event of outages. The solution set up is a decentralized solution in which all the Remote Terminal Units are communicating in a peer to peer way to detect, isolate and restore the grid in a short time.
