Abstract :
The increase in penetration level of distributed generation (DG) in the distribution network has enhanced the service reliability of the customers. In case of a fault, the DGs with their intentional islanding ability may help in quick service restoration. This paper proposes a multi-agent system (MAS) architecture for fault restoration with DG islanding and explores its benefits. The efficiency of the MAS approach is indicated by its ability to provide efficient service restoration for single as well as multiple faults. Its flexible nature makes it topology independent as shown in the results.
