Abstract
This paper presents a cost effective solution in optimizing the performance of mass-produced hearing aids for faithful reproduction of sound with low power consumption that prolongs battery life. The dithering scheme is suitable for implementation on various small consumer healthcare devices including hearing aids and personal sound amplifying devices offering improved sound quality with enhanced performance in tone, smoothness and dynamic range. The audio system is found to improve sound quality without dither added to the incoming audio signal.
