  • Abstract
In this paper, a fast and simple time domain technique is developed to generate the current reference for a Shunt Active Power Filter (APF) to compensate harmonics, reactive power and load unbalance. Using the proposed technique, the control logic is developed for a Shunt APF topology where a 2-level VSI Inverter is employed. MATLAB / Simulink - based simulations are performed to verify the effectiveness of the logic for all three compensations. Using simulations and experiments, it is shown that the proposed technique performs compensation much faster than other time domain techniques. Extensive simulations are performed to test the validity of the logic for a three phase three wire system.
