Abstract :
Towed linear arrays suffer from the inherent problem of being unable to distinguish between targets on the left or right side of the array. Normal approaches to solve this uses a volumetric array or by own platform manoeuvres. This paper introduces a method which maximizes the left-right rejection ratio by means of a constrained beam former approach. It is compared with different contemporary solutions and gives better results in terms of rejection ratios and is well suited for real time implementation.
