  • Abstract
    We study both theoretically and experimentally an RF photonic frequency source featuring low phase noise, low power consumption, compact size, and wideband tunability. Performance parameters of the oscillator are superior to existing tunable electronic oscillators and synthesizers operating in the 2-35 GHz band, with the close-in phase noise at least 20 dB lower than what is currently achieved with free running tunable RF oscillators.
