Metadata-based management for educational resources

With the development and the popularity of the Internet, educational resources are sufficient for information technology education in China. Thus effective management of these increasing educational resources becomes a key issue. These existing models solving this issue have some problems. This paper proposes a method applying metadata to the management of educational resources. We firstly introduce metadata and discussed the relation of metadata and educational resources in detail. Then we explain metadata standards using two famous metadata standards, the Dublin Core Metadata standard and the IEEE Learning Object Metadata standard, as the instance. Finally we describe the metadata-based organization model of educational resources in several aspects. This paper provides a new way to optimize the organizational model of educational resources.
