Abstract :
China´s online shopping market has grown strongly in recent years, and has become the new engine of economic development. This new engine is of great importance for boosting consumption, expanding domestic demand and transforming economic development pattern. In 2012, China´s online shopping market trading volume hit a walloping 1.3 trillion RMB, presenting some new characteristics such as the record-breaking population of netizens, stable growth rate in online shopping and group buying, flourishing mobile commerce. Issues in China´s online shopping, for example, lack of trust, increased business faithless phenomena, bad practices on some predominant shopping platforms, and inefficient logistics system, are discussed respectively in this paper. In the end, the paper comes to conclusion about the development trends of China´s online shopping, that is, to be number one in the world´s online shopping market, more important role of lower-tier and inland cities, m-commerce is fast emerging, more investment in logistics infrastructure, and widely used third-party platforms with Alibaba as a dominant player.
