  • Abstract
    Due to the widespread use of a variety of high-power electronic devices, the utility grid by harmonic pollution becomes more and more seriously, leading to the low utilization rate of power factor and energy. In recent years, the power factor correction technology attracts the attention of the public as an effective method to suppress harmonic current and improve the power factor. The paper discusses the definition and meaning of power factor correction(PFC) firstly, and then studies the hard switching circuit - Boost converter, and analyses the role of Boost converter in the PFC, and also gives the parameters of the calculation for Boost converter. At last the paper makes modeling and simulation based on MATLAB/Simulink, and gives the simulation results and prove that Boost circuit has a good effect in PFC circuit design.
