Abstract
This paper investigates impact of the mobile user orientation on positioning accuracy in indoor environment using WLAN technology. Positioning methods focused in the experimental analysis are the Cell-ID method and the space segmentation methods. Both methods assign the mobile terminal with unknown location coordinates based upon the access point with the strongest signal. In this paper, the methods are described, experimental analysis is performed and the results are presented, and conclusions are derived regarding effects of the mobile user orientation on positioning accuracy.
